John Manuel, PA(ASCP)
John’s passion for spatial biology spurred the creation of Spatial Bio Hub, driven by observed needs for advancing spatial projects, true sample expertise, and solutions for spatial-centered businesses & technologies.
As a board-certified Pathologists' Assistant with two decades of experience in anatomic pathology, John is an expert in his discipline. He’s served as clinical faculty in pathology residency programs and managed pathology services across various institutions, including multidisciplinary academic medical centers, military treatment facilities, VA hospitals, and large community hospitals.
Transitioning into the dynamic field of spatial biology, John specialized in NGS-based and imaging-based technologies at 10X Genomics, focusing on Visium, CytAssist, and Xenium. He later focused on advancing Stero-seq technology with the STOmics team, at Complete Genomics, as well as the G4X platform at Singular Genomics. After donning the hats of Field Application Scientist, Scientific Advisor, and Director of Business Development, John now welcomes the opportunity to lead Spatial Bio Hub to bring unique solutions to the field of spatial biology.
John attended the University of Washington (UW) where he majored in Cellular, Molecular & Developmental Biology, and worked in UW's Dept. of Pathology & Immunology research labs. John later earned his PA credential from the American Society for Clinical Pathology and maintains this, along with his AAPA fellow status.
